March 10th, 2010 - How To Choose A Corporate Photographer
There are many corporate occasions, such as the visit of a major client, or a big symposium, for which you need to record the proceedings in form of pictures. This is where event photographers play an important role.
Taking professional photographs at an event is a rare skill. Unlike most other types of photography, the person capturing an occasion has almost no control over the flow of the event or how the people react. To be able to do a good job at event photography, a person certainly needs ability, plus he must also have a solid experience behind him. However, the greatest difficulty is that an event photographer does not get a retake.
It is needless to say that you have to be aware of several aspects while selecting a corporate photographer to cover a corporate event. Ability to adjust the equipment so that it works well in an indoor setting is a must, because most company venues do not have any natural light. You must also make sure that the photographer does not carry a bad quality camera with poor resolution or lack of adaptability to relatively darker surroundings.
You obviously should never go for an amateur for an event of any significance. There are plenty of pros out there to choose from. To make sure that the photographer fits well with your needs, ask for some samples of his past work. You can also ask for customer references on the quality of service of that photographer.
Of course, you have to inform the corporate photographer, who you intend to hire, about all the expectations that you expect him to fulfil. This is important, because any misunderstanding can prove to be costly. Such a discussion will also allow you to understand how capable the photographer is, and how comfortable he would be at the event. Moreover, a detailed discussion would put the event photographer at comfort and he would be able to deliver his job adequately well done.

February 3rd, 2010 - Tips For The Would-Be Bridal Photographer
For years people will be displaying photos of their wedding, since it is that kind of occasion. Every bride and groom wants someone who is well trained and who will guarantee quality. If you are a photographer you might want to consider photographing weddings because there is a lot of money to be made by doing them. With the money comes the risk which you must manage well.
If this is going to be your first wedding shoot you will want to make sure your contract is written up properly and a disclaimer included in it. If you don’t have a disclaimer you could be sued afterwards. There are a few reason you should not be held accountable for and they are failure of equipment, miss placed pictures after they were sent away, and photos that do not develop properly. Otherwise you could get sued for breach of contract.
Now with that said you should also include how many pictures are to be taken and how long you will be photographing for and what hourly rate will be. Something else you should include would be the fees for developing and the fee of the album. Your client’s requirements are important so make sure you talk it over with them. There could be a particular family member that they want photographed separately, or a certain group of people they do not get to see very often.
Make a list of all the pictures that your client’s requested. Generally your clients will want pictures of the pre-ceremony, wedding ceremony, post-ceremony and of course the reception. Discuss with the clients about which shots they want and who’s going to be in the pictures. Not every client will be the same so pay attention to what they are saying.
When you schedule your clients in make sure they pay you a deposit. At least 50% deposit should be paid prior to the wedding. So you don’t end up bothering the bride and groom during the reception, arrangements should be made for when the remainder will be paid. They would think you were unprofessional and wish they had hired someone else.
If you are developing your client’s pictures yourself, Photoshop is an excellent photo editing program. You can enhance the photos with all sorts of techniques such as flaw removal, montage, changing the color to black and which or sepia, as well as other unique features.
Always look to see how you can add more value than what you said you would give. A special surprise will keep everyone talking and generating more business for you in the future. Think different. Imagine for example if you uploaded all their pictures onto a password protected part of your website so that they and their friends can login and view.
In the end doing wedding photography can be lucrative and fun as long as you build on your people skills.

February 1st, 2010 - Writing Your Own Poetry
The most popular style of our time is the ‘free verse’ style. This form originated in the late 19th century, with Walt Whitman being credited for it. Before this form was introduced, poetry was restricted to certain form.
Scansion is the analyzing of pattern, rhyme and meter in formal poetry. Commonly, a letter is placed at the end of the last word in each line. Usually starting with A then B and so on….
Using letter to signify the rhymes is a great way to determine the pattern. If line one and two rhyme, an A would be placed beside them. If line three and four rhyme with each other but not one and two, we would place B’s beside them. The pattern would be AABB. If line 5 rhymes with either, an A or B would be used. If it does not rhyme, we would use a C.
Meter is the number of beats in each line. The beat most commonly used is “Iambic pentameter’. Individual beats consist of a short and strong pulse. Words with this beat are arrest, domain, forsooth, etc. The second syllable is accented.
OK, enough rules and on to the fun stuff. What do you start with when you tell stories or write letters? Do you begin with something you overheard? Witnessed? Read About? Start with what you are comfortable with, that’s the best way to start.
Think of what type of poem you had in mind. Will it be a story, a comment, a character study? It is best to skim through some examples to get you started off. It is also important to take breaks like going for a walk or to bed. When you come back, jot things down. It does not have to be orderly.
It may take many weeks or months to get your poem finished. If your having trouble, take a break. When you come back, carry on from the last line in your poem. You will be delighted at what comes out.

November 24th, 2009 - The Trusted Holmes Magnifying Glass – Seeing Is Believing
Not so long ago I came across my grandpa’s old Sherlock Holmes magnifying glass tucked inside one of his favorite books. He used to love reading with it and upon holding it in my hands again, a flood of memories came rushing back to where I was a child. In the experimental stage of my life I used to nick his magnifier and round up some friends and we would set off into the woods.
Setting things alight was so much fun and our imaginations took us to new heights. We did not of course think we would destroy a corn field in the process. Just by concentrating the sun’s light onto a leaf or a piece of paper and even dare I say your hand, was a thrill and sent us in spats of laughter.
It was only recently we I remembered those days when I started thinking about the magnifier and it significance. Did you know that way back in 1021 it was written about already. I am sure it dates back even further to when glass was produced in Italy. There must have been people who found that looking through a curved piece of glass it would appear bigger. How you see things will depend on how far you hold the lens to an object. The closer you hold it the less it would magnify. The further away you hold the more magnification you can obtain.
There are a few ways to obtain your magnification. They say that you must hold the lens close to an eye and move towards an object and as you move your head with the lens then the object starts enlarging. Or another way can be to hold the lens close to the object and with your hand start adjusting the length back and forth to get to the desired enlargement.
The actual workings behind it is extremely technical and as such, I will not dare to go into detail, suffice to in layman’s terms – light passes through the lens and at the same time the speed also changes. By passing through the lens light bends and it makes any object behind it look bigger.
There are an array of different uses for a magnifier. One that springs to mind is a jeweler. Without a strong magnifier he cannot possible see if a stone like a diamond has any flaws. Or how about a stamp collector, they need to see the most faintest of markings on a stamp. They usually have a magnifier mounted on a stand which is perfectly distanced from the table. Many magnifier stands are adjustable.
But by far the most used is the Sherlock Holmes magnifying glass. Many schools have them in class to study biology. The budding investigator won’t be caught dead without one. They are usually sold with a focal length of 25 centimeters and described as a 2x magnifier.
The truth about finding Sherlock Holmes style magnifying glasses is finally revealed! visit us online to learn and get all the information on magnifying glasses you have been looking for.

October 14th, 2009 - A Critical Look At The Samsung LN52b750 LCD TV
If you’re thinking about buying an LCD TV then you may be considering Samsung. The Samsung Ln52b750 is a good choice for a TV. This model is an lcd flat panel flat screen marketed by Samsung. The term LCD stands for liquid crystal display. These TV’s do not use picture tubes like the old CRT models of the past.
Samsung is a South Korean based company with electronics only being part of the services it offers. As we all know our beloved CRT TVs are being phased out. With over the air channels changing to all digital its not wonder people are buying HDTV’s. Although some people may argue there old picture tube still looks better. These people haven’t tried the latest models.
First off let’s clarify what HDTV stands for. HDTV stands for high definition television. These units are capable of showing programming and video games at extremely high resolutions. The result is a very crisp, clear, and sharp image. Most movies will appear with more detail and less blurring, and most video games will also have enhanced detail.
Many people are buying HDTV’s for another reason altogether, they are smaller. Many LCD TV’s are only about one fourth as deep as an equivalent tube TV. AS you can see this is quite a perk since this opens up many new positions for TV placement. Now keep in mind the width and height are unaffected, a 52 inch TV is still going to be 52 inches.
Let’s review the Samsung Ln52b750 specifications. It is a 52 inch LCD flat panel. Both digital and analog tuners are included in this model so you can watch either broadcast type. Its 33. 8 inches high 49. 6 inches wide, and 12 inches deep. Picture in a Picture is supported on this model.
These dimensions are taken with the stand. It weighs 67. 5 pounds. The maximum resolution is 1920 X 1080. The display format is 1080p with a pixel response time of 2 ms. The sound system is a built in stereo system with two ten watt speakers. It is energy star compliant. Total power consumption is around 190 watts.
As far as inputs go this unit supports all major forms of cables and plugs. There really isn’t very much you cannot hook up to it. The price of the unit is around 2500. 00. This can vary however from location to location. The stand is included with this TV. Other TV brands sometimes require you to buy the stand separately
When picking out an HDTV remember the room it’s going in. The Samsung Ln52b750 is good choice for a large room, or a living room. Newer TV’s look more like computer monitors now than televisions; oddly enough you can use most HDTV’s as a computer monitor. Also keep in mind that since they are so much thinner there’s no room to sit anything on top of them.
September 20th, 2009 - Do Blends of Different Size Cigars in the Same Line Have Differences?
When it comes to smoking cigars, those who are in the know make sure that they have the best cigars and the best accessories for their pastime. They want to have the sharpest cutter so they can get a clean cut, they want to have the best torch lighters so they can get a good light every time, and they want to have the best humidor to keep their cigars fresh. They also want to have a great cigar with a taste they love. They are so adept at picking out the various flavors of tobacco, that they can even tell when blends of different size cigars in the same line have differences in taste.
Why do blends of tobacco have a difference when they are in the same line but have a different size? The answer is in the question. The size is what causes the difference. Larger cigars have a fuller taste because there is more filler to make the taste of the wrapper seem subtler. With the smaller cigars, even though the line is the same, you are going to have the wrapper change the taste. If you cut the cigar, you will get to see the blend and see how it differs from those of a different size.
Other things can change the taste of a cigar as well. For example, if you don’t use butane lighters, you might get a different taste in your cigar that was imparted through chemicals in the lighter you use. Butane doesn’t cause this problem. The next time you are buying cigars, you might want to do an experiment. Buy two cigars from the same line, but make sure they are different sizes.
Take the cigars and cut them open to look at the difference in blends. You are likely going to see more dark tobacco in the larger cigar. Doing this is a good way for you to get a visual that will help you to understand the differences in the blends even though the cigars are from the same line.
You will find that many factors can influence the taste of a cigar, and that is one of the reasons that so many people enjoy smoking them. You will be able to find something that you like, no matter your preference and you will discover plenty of other styles, sizes, and blends that you can try to you can expand your knowledge. It is a very rewarding pastime, and one that is relaxing as well.
